Four trips around the sun.
Three sets of parents to show us the way.
Two sweet babes.
One home. One family. One big love.
Brian and I are now a couple weeks into our fifth year of marriage.
As a couple, we are good at recognizing and celebrating our milestones. We have honored our anniversaries in a variety of ways, but this year we hit the jackpot.
Brian surprised me by having our wedding video, which was recorded on VHS, converted to a DVD. We spent the early morning watching and reminiscing and (unsuccessfully) trying to get Sam interested in the footage.
We packed a picnic lunch and took it with us to the zoo. Sam was (as always) delighted with the lemurs, gibbons and llamas. We were (as always) delighted in his delight. Eli (as always) took things in as they passed by his stroller. We dined with a peacock.
While the boys napped, we took turns exercising and just relaxed around the house.
We left Sam and Eli at Brian's sister's house and went to the grocery store to buy some fancy cheese to go with our second picnic meal of the day.
We spent the evening at an outdoor table at my favorite winery. We talked. We laughed. We ate stinky cheese. We enjoyed the wine and the weather and quiet.
Basically, it was as close to perfection as can be.
I told Brian I want to do the same thing every June 19th.
In a figurative way that is true. I want to reminisce about the day that we made promises to each other before God and our people. I want to spend time with our kiddos and to see them happy. I want to relax at home. I want to enjoy the outdoors. I want to have some time for just the two of us.
