My "One Little Word" for 2014 is BUILD.
While “build” lacks the luster of many of the words on my maybe list (ex. magic, rejoice, delight and create), I like it for its solidity. It feels sensible and strong. It leaves room to create, but it has a tough exterior.
In the word build, I see room to grow and room to improve. It is a word that invokes the second phase of something – as in, “I already like where I am and want to build on that foundation.” I think this pretty accurately reflects where I am today.
Much like my phrase from last year, “build” encourages action. It is a verb and it is my reminder that my big dreams will only happen when sufficient work is put behind them.
In my word I see a space to prepare. Building up to a new role as a stay-at-home mama. Building new routines and new schedules.
I see room to create. Building new ways to express myself and new ways to share. Building up the moments for little boys to remember.
I see a mandate to get to work. Building a business. Building an income.
I see space to encourage and motivate. Building up others. Building up the talents and imaginations of my two little guys.
I am excited to take on 2014 with my word by my side. Together, we will accomplish big things.
I've created a OLW inspiration board on Pinterest. I'd love to have you follow along.
I am also really looking forward to taking Ali Edwards' official One Little Word workshop. I am anxious to see how the prompts, homework and general encouragement of the class help me to put my word to use.
